How Do You Register for Disney World DAS?
Register for Disney World DAS by live video chat, not in person. Learn the current 60-day window, party limit, return-time rules and other queue accommodations.
01 · Purpose
DAS creates a virtual wait; it does not provide immediate access
Disney describes Disability Access Service as one of several programs for guests with disabilities. Its published purpose is to accommodate a guest who, because of a developmental disability such as autism or similar, cannot wait in a conventional queue for an extended period of time.
An approved guest requests a return time for a specific attraction. Disney says that return time is comparable to the attraction’s current standby wait, so DAS changes where the guest waits rather than eliminating the wait. The registered guest must be present when registering and must experience the attraction when the party redeems the return time.
| Question | Disney’s current rule |
|---|---|
| Who decides eligibility? | A Cast Member after an individual live conversation |
| Is DAS immediate attraction access? | No; the return time is comparable to the current standby wait |
| Must the registered guest ride? | Yes; that guest must be present when the return time is redeemed |
| Is there a diagnosis checklist? | Disney publishes the program’s intended need, not an automatic approval list |
A diagnosis alone does not let an independent guide promise approval. Disney makes the eligibility decision through a personalized conversation.
02 · Registration
The current process is live video chat, including for a same-day request
A guest may start the live video-chat process up to 60 days before a park visit. Disney explicitly says Walt Disney World does not offer an in-person DAS registration option. A guest who reaches the visit date without registering may still participate in a live video conference that day.
The person requesting DAS for themself or another guest must be at least 18 years old, and the guest for whom DAS is requested must appear in the chat. Valid theme park admission must be linked for each party member. If Disney provides DAS, the registered guest participates in registration and has a photo taken.
| Registration item | Current requirement |
|---|---|
| Earliest request | 60 days before a park visit |
| Registration channel | Live video chat |
| In-person registration | Not available at Walt Disney World |
| Same-day request | Live video conference on the visit date |
| Published chat hours | 7:00 AM to 8:00 PM Eastern Time |
| Maximum DAS party | Registered guest plus 3 others, 4 total |
| Validity if approved | Length of the ticket or up to 1 year, whichever is shorter |
Disney currently offers the live conversation in English only. The page says it is screen-reader friendly and that text chat is available for guests with hearing disabilities.
03 · Return times
A DAS party may hold one active attraction return time
After entering a theme park, a registered party can request a DAS return time in the My Disney Experience app. A Cast Member at Guest Relations or a Guest Experience Team location can also provide assistance, including for a guest without a mobile device.
A DAS return time remains valid until that park closes or the attraction closes for the day; it is not limited to a narrow redemption window. The party can hold only one active DAS return time at once. Ten minutes after redeeming it, the party may request another return time for the same or a different attraction.
- Any member of the DAS party may obtain a return time for the group.
- The DAS-registered guest must be present and experience the attraction when it is redeemed.
- One DAS return time and one eligible virtual-queue boarding group may be held at the same time.
- Attractions can close, and a return time expires when the attraction or park closes for the day.
DAS does not create a fixed appointment time. It creates one active virtual wait that can be redeemed later that day while the park and attraction remain open.
04 · Other tools
Disney lists several ways to address different queue needs
Disney’s queue-access page describes accommodations and services beyond DAS. Which one may be appropriate depends on the guest’s needs, the attraction and a personalized conversation with Accessibility Services. Some options are available only at select attractions.
Attraction Queue Re-Entry may allow a guest with a need that arises in line to leave while the rest of the party waits, then return with Cast Member help. Queue Meet-Up may allow a guest to wait outside and join the party before boarding when the attraction’s process and the guest’s needs support it. Every attraction has a defined process, so the guest should ask a Cast Member how it works there.
| Queue tool | What Disney says it can do | Important boundary |
|---|---|---|
| Queue Re-Entry or Meet-Up | Help a guest leave and rejoin, or meet a waiting party before boarding | The process is attraction-specific; contact Accessibility Services in advance if traveling alone or the party cannot remain in line |
| Rider Switch | Let two parts of a party take turns when someone cannot ride or cannot wait outside alone | The entire group starts with a Cast Member; no more than 2 guests ride in the second party |
| Single Rider | Offer a potentially shorter queue to guests willing to be separated | Only at participating attractions and does not guarantee immediate boarding or a seat choice |
| Stroller as a Wheelchair tag | Allow an approved stroller used as a mobility device to enter queues | Ask Guest Relations; the tag is issued when appropriate |
| Service-animal queue guidance | Allow service animals in queues and identify options where an animal cannot ride | Ask a Cast Member at the affected attraction |
Do not arrive expecting one universal ‘DAS alternative.’ Disney directs guests to the accommodation that fits the specific need and attraction.
